About Us
About the Site
Becoming Irresistible, huh? People ask me all the time why I chose such a name as the title of this site.
For two reasons, really:
1. In 2006, I wrote a book called: Becoming Irresistible: How To Pack Your Copywriting Business With Five New Clients Every Month. You can check out the book in paperback here. The title really served me well in selling the book. Then I really thought about it’s deeper meanings and what it meant for the solo business owner.
2. Becoming Irresistible describes the process, as well as the outcome, that all solo business owners aspire to. They want prospects and customers to find them..well, irresistible! When they do, they’ll return to consume more products and services. That’s every business owner’s most sincere wish: To build a business that attracts lifetime customers.
What’s the Purpose of the Site?
I built this site as a resource for solo business owners who are tired of the endless struggle and want to at last enter a zone in which they leave struggle behind and enjoy a business that’s fun and profitable.
Becoming Irresistible exists to help you -the solo business owner- build a business that’s enjoyable, fun to operate and work in every day, and one that brings you the kind of income you wish.
About Me
In 1967 my family lived in Pasadena, Texas. As a student at L.F. Smith Elementary School, two very memorable events occurred that would shape my life.
1. The Louisville Slugger Award I was busy with my mind on something else when Marcus Garvey, the biggest kid in class, took a full strength swing with a wooden Louisville Slugger and connected squarely with my forehead. I’d aimlessly wandered directly into his swing path and it altered my life forever.
I don’t recall much of the following two weeks. I do, however, recall having a Herman Munster-type forehead and two of the most impressive black eyes you’ve ever seen.
This, and other events over the course of my childhood, would factor into my decision to become a physician.
2. The Francis Scott Key Report That same year my teacher, Mrs. Wanda Boggs, assigned each student a biographical report. Mine was on the author of what would become the national anthem of the United States. During the researching and writing of that report, I experienced a satori (instant awakening) and knew writing was a career calling.
Fast Forward Thirty Years I’ve worn badges identifying me as a physician, surgeon, Dean of Instruction, and College President. Somehow I melded all these interests into a life that affords me the ability to write, raise my 11 year-old son Justin, and still hangout at my local Starbucks.
