Is Elvis also the ‘King of Marketing?’
April 15th, 2007 by BarryMorris | Filed under Uncategorized.Having just spent a week in Memphis, Tennessee for the sole purpose of soaking up everything Elvis-related, I can vouch for the sharp marketing machine that Graceland and Elvis Presley Entrprises has become.
- Every time an employee sees you they smile and say ,”Hi. Welcome to Graceland.”
- Each attraction (Car museum, Elvis After Dark, Airplanes) includes a tour and empties into a separate gift shop.
- The music playing in the background is, yes, Elvis.
- The videos playing on the video screens, The ‘68 Comeback Special, Aloha from Hawaii, etc.
- The CDs for sale come in $5, $15, $25, $50 versions.
- The DVDs for sale also come in various levels of entry.
- There are packages of posters, CDs, and DVDsat all levels.
Upselling, cross-selling, and bundling.
If the King of Rock-N-Roll does it (and very successfully), shouldn’t you?
